Robert James Russell
It is with profound sadness that we announce Jamie‘s passing – much loved son, brother, nephew, cousin and friend on March 29, 2022 at the ICU unit of the Red Deer hospital with his Mom and stepfather by his side.
Born in Edmonton Alberta August 28, 1984, Jamie lived in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia during his childhood years. A member of United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, his work as a Journeyman brought him to Alberta, Saskatchewan and Vancouver Island, British Columbia.
Jamie left this world as he lived it – peacefully. He found happiness while exploring nature and being outdoors. Especially during his time in BC – a place he held near to his heart. Some of his favorite pastimes were camping, hiking the mountains and capturing these special moments with his photography skills. Jamie always looked forward to time spent with his family – especially his Mom and little sister who he adored.
Fondly remembered by his friends as “one of a kind”, his sense of humour, quick wit, and his easy going nature made it a joy to be with him. Affectionately known as “Rusty“ by his family, he loved unconditionally and always saw the good in people.
Jamie is survived by his mother Natoli Chiasson and stepfather Rob Hayashi, Lacombe Alberta, father Jamie Russell and Stepmother Colleen, Sydney, Nova Scotia, sister Laura Farrell (Jonah) Fort McMurray Alberta, maternal Uncles Art Chiasson [Cheryl], Danny Chiasson [Sandy], Paul Chiasson, Pierre Chiasson [Nina], Phillip Chiasson [Elsie], Mark Chiasson [Paula], Eric Chiasson [Kelly], maternal Aunt Judy O’Donnell, paternal Uncles Tommy Russell [Carol Anne], John Russell [Trisha], Jody Graham (Trina) paternal Aunts Ann Marie MacInnis (Allan), Tanya Graham (DJ), his Aunt Carol Anne Green, along with many special cousins and friends.
Jamie was pre-deceased by his maternal grandparents Arthur and Margaret [Peg] Chiasson Glace Bay and paternal grandparents Marie Graham and Thomas Russell, Glace Bay.
Arrangements and cremation are entrusted to Wilson’s Funeral Chapel Lacombe Alberta. Per Jamie‘s wishes, he will be laid to rest beside his maternal grandparents at Saint Barra Cemetery, Christmas Island, Cape Breton. Graveside service and Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Expressions of sympathy for the family may be sent to Wilson’s Funeral Chapel Lacombe. Memorial donations in honour of Jamie maybe sent to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of one’s choice.
