The family of Florida announce her peaceful passing on March 8, 2022 at Victoria Hospice, two months shy of her 94th birthday. She is a much loved and dearly missed mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to so many. She leaves us with so many cherished memories.
She was predeceased by her loving husband of 56 years, Wilmer.
Born in Drummond, New Brunswick in 1928, Florida was a resilient and strong-minded person who devoted herself to life and to her family. Florida made a warm and welcoming home for family and friends. Her cozy nest was a soft place to land for all who visited. She embraced life and all its challenges with strength and dignity.
Among Florida’s many gifts was her ability to connect with people. From her radiant smile, vibrant gardens, the crocheted Afghans she made into her last year and how she dressed every day, she made the world a more beautiful place. Her zest for life never waned.
At 40 years of age, with seven children in school, she embarked on a rewarding career in the field of Medical Records. She was so proud of this achievement and so was her family. Florida was a remarkable individual. She will be missed by all whose lives she touched.
Florida was a woman of faith. This sustained her throughout life and never more so than at her end of life in hospice.
Our family extends a deeply felt thank you to all the staff of Victoria Hospice. You honored Florida with your love, care and comfort in a time of need. Florida will be laid to rest May 12, 2022 in Almonte, Ontario.
“What we once enjoyed and deeply loved we can never lose, for all that we love deeply becomes a part of us.” Hellen Keller.
