Obituary of Sandra Jean MacKinnon
Ms. Sandra Jean MacKinnon (Sandi) 1955-2022, most recently of Murray River, passed away in the Kings County Memorial Hospital, on Tuesday, March 29th. She had been attended to by the excellent medical staff, her family, and friends. She passed peacefully surrounded by love.
She is survived by her husband Robert Cormier, son Sébastien Cormier parent of granddaughter Ruby, daughter Sarah MacKinnon-Cormier parent of grandchildren Erileigh (step), Pascal, and Laurence (Lolo), and son Julien Cormier parent of grandchildren Kaiden, Gabriela, and Neeko. Sandi is survived by uncles, aunts, and cousins who live mainly in Ontario and Nova Scotia.
Sandi was predeceased by her brother Timothy MacKinnon (1958), sister Laura MacKinnon (1988), mother Donna MacKinnon (2019), and father Don MacKinnon (2020), all of whom resided in Ontario.
Sandi was first and foremost a mother full of eclectic interests and talents. She travelled Canada and the world before her children’s births and then raised her children with Robert in Montreal, Îles-de-la-Madeleine, and PEI. She worked in various capacities for social justice as a journalist, community worker, and finally as a lawyer. She was a fearless and passionate activist and advocate, traits that helped her earn her law degree from the University of New Brunswick at the age of 50.
She was a phenomenal singer, guitar player, and banjo player who performed for community fundraisers, international campaigns such as OXFAM, and at countless house parties and campfires. She loved to read, play Scrabble, cook, swim, go to the beach, and spend time with her grandchildren who will forever know her as Nana.
An intimate ceremony will take place in the coming days. A celebration of life featuring music, dancing, food, and of course a bonfire will take place in late spring when the weather allows. Details will be shared shortly.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Sandra

Death notice for the town of: Stratford, Province: I-P-E
Our sympathies to Sebastien, Sarah & Julien and your families. I first met your Mom at my first MacPicnic in 1973. We were only a few years apart in age and wrote to each other for several years. She was independent and determined to follow her own path, one that she blazed herself.
Robert, je t’envois touted mes condolences a toi et et toutes ta families et la families de Sandi. Mon francais est terrible .
