Obituary of John Clarke Taylor
Taylor: John
John’s story began in Gananoque in 1942. After marrying Jane, his work took him to Windsor, Ontario where his three daughters, Anne, Ellen and Amy were born. After returning to Gananoque to run a camp and continue his career in the automotive sector, his son John Douglas (Doug) was born. Along with his brother Jim, John built a cottage on Tremont Island. The family, including his sister Ann, continues to spend summers on the island, now joined by eight grandkids. John loved adventure and shared his infectious enthusiasm with his children. Family ski trips to the Eastern townships and boat rides to explore the Thousand Islands were mainstays in the Taylor household. John loved to tell stories around the dinner table. His captive audience learned of adventures at Boldt Castle, cruising the islands by moonlight or racing down ski runs with Stein Eriksen in tow. While the dinner table at the Taylor cottage will never be the same, the love of skiing, the river, the islands and story telling are traditions created by John that continue today with his children and grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in John’s name to the Thousand Islands Association (www.thousandislandassociation.com/donate). A private family Celebration of John’s life will be held at a later date.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of John
