Sidney Jo “Peanut” Foley McTeer – age 90 of Knoxville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at Sacred Ground Hospice House on Monday, March 28, 2022, with her daughter, son-in-law, sister and niece by her side. She was born August 10, 1931, in Luttrell, TN to the late Dewey S. and Cordie (Huddleston) Foley. She was an active member of Washington Pike United Methodist Church for over 70 years and a dedicated member of the Christian Fidelis class. Sidney worked in the children’s area as well as other parts of the church for many years. She also worked at Gourdin’s Jewelry, where she developed a knowledge and appreciation for fine jewelry, and volunteered at the Blount Mansion. Sidney started playing bridge in her 20’s and played with the original friends all of her bridge playing years. She was a good bridge player and was very competitive. She had the opportunity to travel with her late husband all over the world to places like China, England, Russia, Ireland, as well as, all over the United States. She loved to tell people she had visited all 50 states.
Preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Joe B. McTeer; son, Steve McTeer; brother, Dennis Foley; sister, Annette Shelby; brother-in-law, Ted Shelby; and dear friend, Earl Williams.
Survived by daughter, Pam Reddoch and son-in-law, Tom Reddoch; sister, Angela Bowker (Dennis); niece, Kayla (Shane) Bowers; nephew, Brent (Stephanie) Bowker; great niece, Margaret Bowker; granddaughter, Molly McTeer; nieces, Belinda (Mark) Rich, Kelly (Glen) Tyndall, Lisa (John) Mason; and other great nieces and nephews. The family wants to extend their appreciation to Dr. Angela Meyer, the staff at Windsor Garden Assisted Living, the nurses and staff of the UT Hospice program and the caregivers at Sacred Ground Hospice House. They made this transition for her and her family so much easier.
The family will receive friends 10:30-11:30 a.m. Friday, April 1, 2022, with the funeral service to follow at 11:30 a.m. at Washington Pike United Methodist Church, 2241 Washington Pike, with Rev. Jim Bailes officiating followed by a private graveside service.
