“Art” (Gerald Arthur) Yockey,
January 11th, 1938 – March 25th, 2022
Art passed away peacefully at home with his loving wife Linda by his side.
Art is survived by his wife Linda; daughters: Larissa (Chris), Beverly (Glen), Barb; son Todd (Tanya); Linda’s children and grandchildren. He is lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, nieces, nephews, sister-in-law Doreen, brothers-in-law Doug and Joe, and his many friends. Special friend and companion guard dog, Bailey who stayed with him and brought him stuffed toys during his last days. Art is lovingly remembered by his in-law siblings to Linda, James (Alice), Margaret (Harvey), Bernard, Christine (Bob), Jeannette, Joanne, Eldon (Joy), Jacqueline (Wayne), nieces, nephews.
Art was predeceased by his parents Lewis & Evelyn Yockey; siblings: Ed (Myrtle), Orville (Marie), Mervin (Clara), Raymond, Marion (Martin), Helen, Lillian (Albert), Lula; nephews, nieces, a grandchild and his parents-in-law Jim and Gerda.
He grew up in the Lily Plain District, schooled there but was always able to find time for community dances, making friends, and telling a joke or two. Art and his brothers were well known to be pranksters and able to find mischief to make sure their sisters had reason to go to Mom with what they were up to. He then went off to start his working career covering BC, AB, Arctic Ice Roads, and SK. Art was respected in the community and proudly drove truck, operated heavy equipment, and worked in mines over the years.
Art retired in Prince Albert along side Linda where they maintained their well manicured yard and enjoyed gardening. His love for laughter, time spent visiting friends and relatives leaves us all a smile for the way he always brought humor to the room.
