Edward J, Elliott 83, of Sandringham, NL, passed away suddenly at James Paton Memorial Hospital, on March 25, 2022.
Born In Pool’s Island, NL, Edward was the son of the late Jonas and Millicent (Barefoot) Elliott.
Edward worked in the woods at a very young age but spent most of his life fishing and sailing the seas of Newfoundland and Labrador. He was also a sole proprietor and fished for himself before he retired.
During his retirement he enjoyed farming his vegetables and potatoes. He was the kindest and most gentle man, he would do without himself to give to others and give a meal of vegetables away to anyone who would stop by for a yarn.
Edward is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Elizabeth Ann (Harvey), his son Jason (Sherri) of Brooklyn, NS and his son Eddie (Shaida) of Fort McMurray, Alberta, his grandchildren Joshua, Megan, Leah, Madilyn, and Brayden, his sisters Elizabeth (Calvin) Oldford, Lily (Gary) Meehan, Isabel (Arthur)Williams, Elsie, and Blanche (Doug) Powell, his brother-in-laws Clarence (Shirley), Walter (Sylvia), Harold (Geraldine), Maxwell, his sister-in-law Daisy and multiple nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Edward was predeceased by is brother-in-laws Jack, Gregory, and Thomas.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Oram’s Funeral Home, Glovertown, NL.
A memorial service, by invitation only, for Edward will be held Wednesday, March 30, 2022 @ 2:00pm in the Church of The Resurrection, Sandringham, NL with a grave side service to follow.
Donations may be made to Church of The Resurrection, Sandringham in memory of Edward or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Edward’s service will be livestreamed on The Oram’s Funeral Home Facebook Page for family and friends that are unable to attend.
