Barbara Jean Gee Moore 19332022

Barbara Jean (Gee) Moore
1933-2022
It is with deep sadness that we announce the
peaceful passing at home of our dear mother, Barbara Jean (Gee) Moore,
88, on March 23, 2022. Born in Kentville on October 29, 1933, she was
a daughter of the late Joseph Parkinson Gee and Mary Geneva (Keddy)
Gee.
Our mother was a homemaker, and was, for us, a
great one. She worked hard at making sure we had the things we needed
and if times were good, maybe the things we wanted. She instilled in
us a love of family and friends and the importance of traditions and
the time to enjoy those special holidays where most memories are made.
Mom was skilled at knitting, crocheting, sewing, cooking, baking and
bookkeeping (she kept the books for Dad’s business until his
retirement and not a penny went unaccounted for) but most of all, as a
teacher of life. She taught us all how to be the best people we could
be and how to treat others the way we would want to be treated. The
Golden Rule was her way of life. Everyone was treated like an old
friend by mom, there was always room at our table, and more times than
not, those spaces were filled. No one ever left our home without a
full stomach or a kind word.
Mom was strong, brave and determined, always
living a good life. She always made time to enjoy the simple everyday
things in life. A cup of tea with a friend, fresh mayflowers, and a
piece of dark fruitcake were some of her favourite things. She was the
glue that held our family together. Through good times and bad, mom
was a constant source of love and support. She was so loved, and we
were so blessed to have her. Sometimes we’re not ready to
say goodbye but we’ll forever remember and cherish the
love.
Barbie will be sadly missed by her family and
friends. She is survived by her children, Pam (Jack), Harry
(Treasure), Dennis (Sharon), Tom (Brenda), Mary, Chris and Annette
(Mike); and so many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and
nephews. She was the last remaining member of her family and was
predeceased by her sisters, Mona, Josephine, Dorothy and Emily; and
her brothers, Leonard, George and
William.
In addition to her parents and siblings, Barb
was predeceased by her husband, Richard Vincent Moore and two sons,
Kevin (infancy) and Richard
“Dickie”.
The family would like to express their
heartfelt thanks to Dr. Jim Seaman for his many years of care and
friendship to mom and dad. Thanks also to the palliative care team and
the VON for the care and compassion in her final months. We owe a debt
of gratitude to Liz West whom we could never have made it through this
time without. We will be forever grateful for the love, support, and
caring you showed us all over the past months. You were our angel Liz
– thank you.
There will be no visitation by request. A
graveside service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 4,
2022 in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill, followed by a celebration
of life at the Meadowview Community Centre. Donations in memory can be
made to a charity of one’s choice. Funeral
arrangements have been entrusted to the
White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville. On-line
condolences and inquiries may be directed to www.whitefamilyfuneralhome.com.
