Obituary of Margaret Marie “Margie” O’Keefe, Glace Bay, Middleton
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother Margaret Marie O’Keefe. She passed away peacefully at the Veterans Wing of Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, Middleton, on 31st December 2021, at the age of 95, with her family by her side.
Originally from Glace Bay, she was living with her daughter Lynne for the past four years in Middleton, NS.
Margie was predeceased by John, her loving husband of 62 years; and brothers and sisters, John, Emma, Edward, Monica and Walter.
She is survived by sister, Mary and brother, Hugh. She is also survived by her two children, Kevin (Lorraine), Ottawa, ON and Lynne (David), Middleton, NS.
Grammy will be lovingly remembered by her four grandchildren, Michael (Nelia), Ottawa, ON, Laurie (Colin), Airdrie, Alta, David, Inuvik, NWT and Natalie (Adam), Middleton, NS and her five great grandchildren, Lucas, Kevin, Blake, Alana and John.
She is also mourned by her two sisters-in-law, Marie McGean, Waltham, Mass and Jane Moffatt, Guelph, ON with whom she shared nightly phone calls. She will also be missed by numerous nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on July 11, 2022 in St. Monica’s Roman Catholic Church in Middleton, NS.
Visitation for Margie will be held on Tuesday, July 12th, 2022 from 1 pm to 3 pm in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay. Interment will be held in St. Anthony’s Cemetery.
Memorial donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
