Peacefully, with family by her side, Freda passed away at the Riverview Health Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Freda was born 93 years ago in Kent, England, to her parents Frederick and Winifred Edwards. She was predeceased by her parents and brothers Jack and Roy (Beryl), and brother-in-law Terry Stubberfield. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, John; their three children David (Betty), Julie (Moses Sodomsky) and Michael (Jolyne); twelve grandchildren, Aaron (Kirsten), Matthew (Megan), Michael, James, Sarah, Jonathan (Daria), Joshua, Michelle, Vanessa, Nicole, Samuel, and Marquis. Freda was blessed to have seven great-grandchildren, Asher, Olivia, Nikolai, Ava, Frieda, Ella and Zhenya. She is also survived by family in England, sister Enid Stubberfield, nephews John (Janet) Stubberfield and Roger Edwards, and niece Lesley Stubberfield.
Freda immigrated to Canada at the age of 17 years old with her dear friends Una Barrett and Joan Underwood. Freda met John while living in Toronto and on October 16, 1953, they were married. Following time spent building a family in Smiths Falls (ON) and Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu (QC), when the children were young, Freda and John moved to Winnipeg where they raised a family and retired. Mom loved to travel, especially cruise adventures in their later years, and when she was home, she would spend much of her time reading and writing letters to family and friends all around the world. We will miss her warm smile and genuine interest in what was happening in our lives.
A private family interment will take place. A celebration of life will follow at a later date.
