Mrs. Olga Kratchmer passed away at the High River Hospital on December 22, 2021 at the age of 86 years.
She was born in Medicine Hat and moved to the Blackie area when she was young. She spent much of her life there and it was where she married Jim, who she supported in his many endeavors while also raising a family. They eventually moved back to High River in 2010.
Olga, also known as “Lu” or “Babe”, was the youngest of 10 children. She was predeceased by her father Edwin Stromsmoe, her mother Pearl Stromsmoe, brothers Mylo, Arnold, DeMoine, and Gerald, and her sisters Sandy, Marie, Lois, and Lavon.
She is survived by her husband James Kratchmer, sister Ramona Hanson, children Lynell (Ken) Robinson, Todd (Carla) Kratchmer, Mary Dawn (Ken) Smith, Christine (Lorne) Ringuette, as well as 10 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Adam Vyse, Dr. JoAnna Fay, and the third-floor nursing staff for their considerate and compassionate care of our Mom and the amazing support offered to the family. We are blessed to have such wonderful end of life care in our community.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the High River & District Hospital Foundation (560 9th Ave. SW, High River, Alberta, T1V 1B2).
Olga will be remembered for her love of dancing, always being hospitable, and the way she was always concerned about others.
A Memorial Service will be held over Zoom on Monday, December 27th at 2:00 p.m.
