Dr. Owen Dixon, beloved husband of Rosemary (Langford) Dixon, beloved father in law of Sean Kirkwood of Ottawa, cherished grandfather of Liam and Cecily and dear brother of Keith of British Columbia. Owen was predeceased by his only daughter Kathlyn, by his brothers Ron and Barry and by his parents, Roy and Marjorie. Owen was a professor at the University of Ottawa for many years having retired to the McArthurs Mills are which he loved. He will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, his property and his canine companions. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Home Again, a charity close to he and Rosemary’s hearts, would be most appreciated.

Our sincere condolences as you grieve Owen’s passing. He possessed so many admirable qualities as a supervisor and colleague/mentor, researcher, professor, editor and most importantly in being a good person. His annual visits to the Arctic field camps included great discussions while sharing a cold beer or a dram or two in the midnight sun following a long day on the rocks. He seemed to thoroughly enjoy the Arctic landscapes and it may have been a welcome reprieve from the allergy-laden Ottawa summers! He was admirable and I think of him often.
