It is with great sadness that Guenter Balzer, age 89, passed away on Monday, March 14, 2022 at his home in Ville LaSalle surrounded by his loved ones.
Guenter was born in Langenbochum, Germany on July 27, 1932 to Richard Balzer and Franziska Krasca. He married Christel Nickel on August 13, 1955. They were each other’s lifelong companions, having moved across the world from Germany to Montreal, Canada, where they were blessed with two children Ron and Susan.
Guenter had a passion for nature, painting, and hunting. He enjoyed going up to his cabin with his friends and family in Northern Quebec, isolated with animals and a beautiful view of the Northern Lights.
Guenter will be forever remembered for his kindness, his love of nature, and his hearty laugh that brought smiles to everyone.
He is survived by his wife Christel, his two children, and grandchildren Amy and Margot.
A service will be held on Saturday, April 9 at 12pm at St. Willibrord’s Church at 351 Rue Willibrord, Verdun. Viewing is available at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation for his wife.
