Obituary of Josef Omahen
OMAHEN, Josef
Born July 8, 1931 in Bic, Slovenia and passed peacefully on March 16, 2021, Windsor, Ontario with his wife and sons by his side at the age of 90. Loving husband of Anna with whom he shared 65 years of marriage. Wonderful father to Ed and wife Ewa, and Dan and wife Karen. Proud grandfather to three grandchildren who will miss him dearly: Emily, Natalie, and Patrick Omahen. Predeceased by his parents, Josef and Angela Omahen, brothers Vida and Ivan, sisters Josie, Elsa and Mary Jeraj (the late Tony). Brother in-law to Vida and the late Nace of Cleveland, OH, the late Milan and Fanchi, and the late Josef, Mary and Tony of Slovenia. Dear uncle to many nieces and nephews in Canada, U.S., and Slovenia. Josef was a long-time employee of Chrysler Canada. He retired 28 years ago to help look after his grandchildren and spent much of his time outside in his yard and “fixing” things. He was a proud member of the Slovenski Dom in Windsor. He spent many winters in Florida where he enjoyed many friends and the sunshine. His life was well lived, and he will be remembered for his work ethic and his love of family and life. A special thank you to the ICU dept at WRH-Ouellette Campus for your loving care and guidance, and to the Windsor-Es EMS for your compassionate care. Visitation at Windsor Chapel (Banwell Chapel) 11677 Tecumseh Road East. 519-253-7234 on Monday, March 21, 2022 from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Parish prayers at 4:30 p.m. Friends are asked to meet at Ste. Anne’s Parish (12233 Tecumseh Road East) on Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery. If you so desire, donations to the Ste.
