Obituary
Sheila Reid passed away with her daughters Pamela and Julie at her side on Sunday February 20, 2022 in Penticton B.C. at the age of 82.
Sheila fought the unwinnable fight against pancreatic cancer with great courage and dignity until the very end.
Born and raised in Manchester as Sheila Higginbotham, she immigrated to Canada with her parents in 1956. She married Raymond Denyer in 1958 and gave birth to Pamela and Julie while living in Surrey, B.C. before Ray died in 1977.
She met Doug Reid in 1983 and they lived in Tsawassen B.C. and ran a business in nearby Richmond before retiring to Bancroft where Doug had spent childhood summers.
Sheila and her late husband Doug called Bancroft home for 18 years, snuggled into their nest on South Baptiste Lake Road before Doug passed in April 2021 and Sheila returned to B.C. to be near her daughters, grandchildren and great-grandson.
Nothing pleased Sheila more than skunking someone at cribbage, winning the pot at a family game of 31 or placing the last piece of a jigsaw puzzle. Her roast beef and Yorkshire pudding dinners were legendary and her French fries unsurpassed.
She would want to be remembered to all her much-loved step-children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, to Doug’s extended family who welcomed and supported her with open arms, to family and friends afar and to the “Coffee Chicks”.
