Kevin Bruce Lauscher 1956 2022

Obituary of Kevin Bruce Lauscher
Lauscher, Kevin Bruce (June 27, 1956 to March 5, 2022)
The family of Kevin Lauscher is devastated to announce his passing on March 5, 2022 at the age of 65.
Kevin was born in Saskatoon, SK to Grace and Joe Lauscher of Colonsay and became part of a large loving family. He grew up there and went on to various jobs until he finally settled on the Saskatoon Police service. He worked in various departments there, including the Emergency Response Team. He was with the police service for 27 years and retired at the rank of Staff Sergeant.
Just after starting with the police service, he met his future wife Wanda. The result was a marriage of 42 years and two children – Brian (wife, Marissa) and Cara (husband, Dave); grandchildren Alex, Danielle, Elise, and Nolan.
After retiring from the police service, he went on to work for Draganfly Industries, where he trained people to fly drones. He retired from there after 10 years and went on to work at Ardell Farms for Terry and Joanne Ardell. He got his Class 1A license, which he was very proud off. He remembered Terry asking if he had ever driven a semi; Kevin didn’t want to admit that he had never even been in a semi. Terry hired him anyway.
Family was everything to Kevin and was always willing to lend a hand. Always helpful. He could fix anything and build anything. He was always learning.
Kevin discovered in January 2020 that his back pain was an aggressive prostate cancer that had metastasized. From there we launched a massive campaign to overcome the bleak prognosis. We were often thankful that we lived in Canada and had access to such wonderful health care.
For a while he was successful with his battle, and up until July of 2021, he led a very active life. In August he was given three weeks to live. We were expecting our next grandchild in November 2021, so he made it his mission to survive to meet him. He did.
Kevin wanted to pass along his appreciation for the messages and visits over the last few months as they really lifted his spirits. He loved hearing the news of what everyone was up to.
Our family would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Saskatoon Cancer Center, and the St. Paul’s Palliative Care Unit. You made this fight easier. Your compassionate care and understanding was second to none.
At Kevin’s request, there will be no funeral service.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Kevin

  1. Please accept our most heartfelt thoughts and condolences Wanda. We feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to have known and worked with such a tremendous human being.

  2. I had the priviledge of working with Kevin at Ardell Seeds. Kevin was a very dedicated and hard worker, always willing to help no matter what the job. Just last spring I had made a truck purchase and needed to make an E-Transfer…..I didn’t have a clue! Kevin says oh Harv I can help you and within minutes it was done. Just a super great guy….great drone operator. I miss him already. Our deepest sympathies to Wanda and family.

  3. It was my pleasure to know Kevin, even though it was for a short period. His smile and friendly manner was so welcoming. I will miss him.
My deep condolences to Wanda and your whole family.

  4. Kevin was one of the first people I met when I moved home, transferring from the Calgary PS to the Saskatoon PS. He was welcoming and generous, making me feel content that my decision to change Services was the right one. I always admired how despite his years of service, he looked as fit as if he just graduated from Police College, and served as an example of what the (rare) attention to detail of dress and deportment should look like.

When he announced his retirement, I lost a source of thoughtful and steady advice. However, his opportunity with Draganfly was too good to pass up, and illustrated how deep and forward thinking he was since every Service now employs multiple drones for a variety of critical public safety tasks.

There are a number of us still around and working with the SPS who knew him and will mourn this loss. We grieve with you, and remember this good man.

  5. I grew up in Colonsay and lived a very short distance from the Lauscher’s. They were a large family and always someone to visit with. I was saddened to hear of Kevin’s passing. My deepest condolences.

  6. My sympathy to the family. Kevin was the older brother of a close friend in school . And a very good life guard / instructor when I was finishing my lessons. One of the great people I remember fondly from those days. It sounds like he lived his adult life as I remember him. I am thankful that I knew him!

  7. I am profoundly saddened to learn of Kevin’s passing. He would always stop and chat even though I only knew him through connections to a few of his siblings. I always admired him and his career successes. Heartfelt condolences to all.

  8. I read this post by curiosity about my cousin who posted it. Even though I don’t know your family directly I was a Social Worker for part of my life and I worked closely with the police department in Moose Jaw at the time. My sincere gratitude for the difficult job they all chose, no matter the reason, goes out to them as a collective group, (even though a small percentage of them chose the wrong direction using their positions, which we can all become aware of with social media now, a blessing in disguise) they all deserve our 💗 love ( even though they are directed & have to always be dealing with the limitations $, understanding from the public etc., the families are aware of & have to share their burdens) so love you from afar Kevin & family and extended families!😢🤧😓🙏🙏🙏
Celebrate his life as best you are capable and know there are so many people who appreciate, love and support Kevin & his families. 💕
