James Ernest Richardson of Hillsdale, ON passed away peacefully on March 7th 2022. He is survived and remembered by his wife, Darlene, and children, Shannon (John), Bradley, Holly and Terri (Eric), as well as his grandchildren Alex, Joseph, Owen, Isaac, Hudson, Adelyn and Esme. Jim was born at home on January 18th to Ernest and Annie Richardson on the 4th of Flos on the Richardson homestead. He is predeceased by his siblings William and Annie. Jim was a lifelong farmer. As a true salt of the earth person, he was passionate about farming and dedicated to his cattle and crops. Jim had a calm, quiet demeanor that animals and people alike were drawn to. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic and his generous nature. Jim and Darlene were life partners for 50 years. They enjoyed travelling together, and visited most of Canada and the USA, Alaska, Hawaii, Cuba, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Ecuador and Ireland. He loved to visit and fish at Shannon and John’s fly-in fishing camp in Northern Ontario. Jim was a long-time member of the Sno Voyageurs Snowmobile Club. He spent many hours snowmobiling, 4-wheeling and attending farm shows with Bradley. He enjoyed a laugh and a chat with Holly, his Christmas baby. Jim cultivated a love of animals in his children and although he had many farming commitments, he made time to go horseback riding with Terri and spent many weekends at horse shows. Jim will be remembered by his family and all who knew him and his kind spirit.
There will be a small memorial service for immediate family only.
Donations can be made to the Ontario SPCA in his memory. www.ontariospca.ca
