Obituary
Germaine “Geri” Cecilia Nelson departed her loving family on March 1, 2022 at 73 years of age. Geri was born in Gravelbourgh, SK on March 29, 1948.
She was predeceased by her parents, Edgar and Vivian Lariviere; and her loving husband Wayne Nelson.
Geri will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Chantelle Nelson and her children: Jadin, Kalyn and Kenzy; son Jace Nelson and his children: Damon, Lexi, Deklan and Ava. She will also be lovingly remembered by her brothers and sisters: Greg (Cheryl) Lariviere, Keith (Sherryl) Laviviere, Rob Lariviere (Keith), Joanne (Gilles) L’Heureux, Raydn (Willie) Couture and Renee (James) Marcenko; along with numerous nephews, nieces, relatives and good friends.
Geri was a certified Nurse and worked at hospitals in both Virden, MB as well as Weyburn, SK. She also worked as a private nurse for several years before she retired. She is well known for her loving approach to everyone she came in contact with and her hugs will be missed by many.
Anyone who knew Geri probably got to experience first hand her amazing hosting abilities. Not only was her door always open to visitors, but she would welcome everyone with open arms, a hot cup of coffee and some delectable goodies she always managed to have on hand. Her cooking and baking skills were out of this world, and it was guaranteed that her guests never left her dinner table hungry!
Geri’s love in life were her children and her husband Wayne. When Wayne passed, a large part of her passed with him but we all know she is now happily dancing in the clouds with him.
A Service of Remembrance will be held on Thursday, March 10, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. from RD Family Funeral Chapel, Weyburn, SK with Pastor Tim MacKinnon officiating. Funeral luncheon will follow at Captain’s Hall, Weyburn, SK. Interment will be held at the Rainton Cemetery, Worcester, SK at a later date.
For family and friends so wishing, charitable donations in memory of Geri may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan, #301 – 12th Avenue, Regina, SK, S4P 3X1.
