On Sunday, February 27, 2022, Rudolph (Rudy) Shedrick Poorai, loving husband and father of three children, peacefully passed away at age 79.
Rudy was born on August 23, 1942 in San Fernando, Trinidad and Tobago to James and Ivy (Mootoo) Poorai. Rudy was always a hardworking man from a young age, he entered the work force at the age of twelve and worked as he did his schooling for many, many years until he took an early retirement as a Millwright while working at Dow Chemical at age 55.
In 1966 he married his soulmate Flora (Oudith) Poorai, and together they raised three children Kathleen (Kitty) Owens, Terri-Lyn Staples (Jeffrey) and Camille Johnson (Travis).
Rudy leaves behind a legacy of 9 grandchildren, Dylon, Ryan, Krystoff, Alexandria, Austin, Ray (Piper), Samuel, Ty and Naomi.
When not working at his job, Rudy could often be found working around his house or in the garage, repairing one thing or another. He was quite the mechanic, plumber, carpenter, builder, gardener and cook. You name it – he could build it or fix it (or figure out how). Not always the correct way but he would do it the “Rudy” way and make it work.
Anyone who knew Rudy knew he was one of the biggest jokesters around which is something I’m sure we will all remember.
Rudy will be greatly missed by his family and friends near and far.
Rudy was preceded in death by his wife Flora. He is survived by his three daughters, Kathleen (Kitty), Terri-Lyn, and Camille. Also his five siblings Sita, Barry, Ashley, Donna and Angie and his many grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service organized by Serenity Funeral Home and will be held at the Fort Saskatchewan Canadian Legion on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 1pm.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of POORAI Rudolph Shedrick February 27 2022..
