Passed peacefully away after a brief illness surrounded by her close family on March 2, 2022, at the age of 77.
Leaving to mourn with broken hearts, her daughter Tina Maddigan Mayer (Danny), sister Pamela McCarthy (Moody), her niece Melissa Cheeseman Williams (Andrew), nephews Edward, Keith, Jeff and a large circle of cousins and friends especially her two gracious and considerate neighbours Tammy and Sherry who often picked up her mail and brought over a dish to enjoy. Close to her heart her dear friend and cousin Geraldine Morrissey and her three daughters, Lisa Crane, Lynn Kielley, and Jennifer Truscott.
She is predeceased by her parents Edward and Beatrice McCarthy, brother Edward McCarthy (widowed Doris) her second husband Pat Malone, and her first husband James Maddigan. She worked at Ayers, National Sea and retired from Canada Revenue Agency of 27 years.
Pats grandchildren were her pride and joy, and her love of reading, numbers, crafts, cooking, gardening, campfires, and laughter will live on through them.
Special thanks to the staff at HSC in the ICU and CCU units and the staff of Five South A who cared for Pat with compassion during her final days.
There is nothing that Pat loved more then a glass of homemade blueberry wine over a game of growl. It was there that she expressed her last wishes: “No visitation or funeral.” As this is the last chapter in her story, Pat’s wishes will be respected with a private burial as one last time she will write the ending in her book of life.

A Poem for My Sister
My sister will walk no more along the barrens picking blueberries.
She has planted her last seedlings. Her herbs and lilies.
We have played our last game of growl.
No more will she be bundled up around the roaring campfire listening to the cabin party at night.
We have brewed our last batch of blueberry wine, had our last barbecue and our last turkey dinner.
We had our last Christmas Eve and New Year’s together at her cabin and enjoyed watching the fireworks up on the hill together.
Sister you are resting with Jim, your first love, Pat your second, and with your favorite dog Kelissie who was your best friend and service dog of sorts.
You can read your books again and play patients on your iPad.
You can enjoy your knitting and sewing again.
I am sure you have already picked out a pattern and are thrilled to be sitting at your sewing machine.
You now can watch your grandkids grow from above, protect them and keep them safe.
No more Broadway openings or concerts to attend. Your curtain has closed.
The lights are dimmed and in our hearts you will always live.
