Zinger, George Andrew
The king of the jobsite has put away his drywall tools for the last time. After a very brief illness George at the age of 82, left the job to be with the Lord on Monday February 28, 2022.
George was a man of few words but those he shared were full of wit, wisdom and kindness. He was a teasing but loving husband to Carol for over 60 years, a strong and caring father to Kim Selvig, Wayne (Kathy), Scott (Carol), Sylvia Schmidt (Trent), Brenda and Jason (Kristin). He was predeceased by sons Tommy and Rick. He will be missed by all including his grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and furry friends.
He leaves behind his two sisters, Sheila Moore (predeceased Bill) and Audrey Horne (Leo).
George was born April 23, 1939, to Simon and Gertrude Zinger and was raised in Maryhill. He attended St. Boniface Catholic School and KCI Highschool but found his destiny in the drywall trade. For many years, through good times and hard times, he ran his own business successfully and in the end was happy to hand the reins over to his son Jason which gave him more time at home to tease Carol and socialize on the jobsite supplying coffee to his co-workers. His philosophy was simple “if you do good work, you will always have work” and he proved himself true to the end. He taught his family that an honest day’s work, a sense of humor and humility made for a successful life. He will be missed by all that had the honour to meet him.
At George’s request, a private family memorial service will be held at Francis Funeral Home in Tavistock. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Habitat for Humanity or to the Kitchener Humane Society would be very much appreciated and may be made through the Francis Funeral Home by calling 519-655-2431.
