On Friday, February 25, 2022 and with great sadness our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin passed away at Ste. Rose Hospital.
Mom was predeceased by her mother (Catherine), father (Abraham John), brothers (Leonard, Doug, Raymond), husband (Abraham Ledoux), sons (James, Louis), daughter (Mary-Ann), and grand-children (Sheldon, Hailey).
She leaves her children to cherish her memory: Angela (Clifford), Adele, Brian, Loretta (Glen), Joann (Dave), Debbie (Ron), Sheila (Andrew), Vivian (Anthony) and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mom grew up in Duck Bay, Manitoba. She was married to Abraham for forty-nine years and raised eleven children.
Growing up times were tough for our large family but Mom and Dad managed to provide a life full of traditional and contemporary teachings. They both held a strong belief in education, spirituality and the power and commitment to each other and community.
Mom would talk about all the teachings she learned while living with her grandmother Virginia Parenteau (nee Chartrand) on Spruce Island, sharing her wisdom and past generations of teachings that were shared with her.
Growing up Mom was a strong spiritual person. Her connection to the Church resulted in many fundraising activities to support the building which she is now being celebrated in today.
When mom was able to find time for herself she relished in a number of activities including annual camping at Kettle Hills, playing cards with family, playing bingo, gardening, and was involved in Duck Bay School and the first-formed Manitoba Metis Women organization.
Mom, you have never left us and will always be with us. We cherish your wisdom, energy, teachings and love. We knew you were missing Dad and we know you are both shining down on us.
