After a lengthy and courageous battle with Alzheimer, Eileen Baldwin of Pouch Cove left us peacefully on Monday, February 28th, 2022.
She is predeceased by her husband, Hubert in 2008; her darling little Barry in 1964; her parents Nath and Ethel Williams and all dad’s family.
Leaving to mourn her loss but are thankful we had her for 89 1/2 years are her daughter Judy (Fred) Whalen; granddaughter Dawn Whalen; grandson Barry (Renee) Whalen, great granddaughters Emma (Chris) & Leah Whalen; her son Rick, his children Christopher, Allison (Chris) & Mekinna; her nieces in Calgary, who never forgot her – Jane, Sherry, Shirley, Marie & Wendy. The one person she seemed never to have forgotten was “Aunt Vira”(deceased), hopefully they are having a cup of tea together again. She also had many friends who faithfully called to see how she was doing. Even in her plight of Alzheimer, she never lost her kindness for wanting to share with whomever was with her at the time – “here you have some too”, she would say. She was a member of the All Saints Anglican Church choir enjoying her love of singing and the ACW. Little did she think when she retired from Hoyles/Escasoni that one day she would be a resident. Mom’s greatest passion in life was caring and giving to everyone around her. She always made sure we had what we needed; her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, were all so important to her. She was a loving, kind soul and she left an indelible imprint of endless love with us all. I want to try to thank all her caregivers on 2NE, Pleasant view Towers who cared and loved her as their own Nan and always called her Nan – there were times when they got a kiss and I didn’t; Dr. Patel was always only a call away; the amazing nurses, LPs and PCAs; those who danced with her; those who sang “I Wish I was Single Again – Bom, Bom, Bom” with her (they sometimes made up their own words) and was kind enough to make a recording and send it during the first pandemic and it will be a lasting memory for me; those who always made sure she had her treats; that was very important; those who gave her an extra bubbly bath, cut her hair during covid, even when they weren’t allowed; those who took such extra good care of her room every day and all those who were always there to help me – you all know who you are and I will never forget you. Thank you so much; Rest assure mom knew who were good and kind to her.
Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, Torbay on Thursday from 2-9 pm and on Friday from 10 a.m – 1 p.m. Funeral Service to take place from All Saints Anglican Church on Friday, March 4, 2022 at 2 p.m. with interment to follow at All Saints Anglican Cemetery.
