Obituary
WILLIAM JAMES “JIM” CHARLES SADDLER
Jim passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, February 23rd, 2022 with his loving wife Bonnie Lawson (nee Bowman) by his side. Jim was born April 5, 1958 to H. Elinore (nee Darling) and the late William (Bill) Saddler in Toronto, Ontario. Jim was the father to Shane Saddler (Jenn); Step-dad to Brad Lawson (Brenda); Stephen Lawson (Melissa) and Michael Lawson (Jamie). Brother of Jayne Atkinson (Lorenzo) and Scott Saddler (Rhonda). Brother in law of: Gail Bowman (Gord Kelly); Larry Bowman (Sue) and Randy Bowman (Kate). Jim had 12 grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and many great nieces and great nephews. Jim will be fondly remembered by the Elwood Rice family; the Bowman family and the Atkinson family.
Jim was born in Toronto and was a very good hockey player. When we moved to the Roseneath area, he played for the Warkworth Juveniles, a Championship team and then went on to play for the Cobourg Cougars. Jim was the type of guy who would give you the shirt off his back, but don’t get him mad!! We remember a guy who had ‘poked the bear’ and ended up head first into a big metal garbage can!! Jim retired out of the LCBO and then he and Bonnie started travelling: 4 cruises to the Caribbean; loved to visit Mom’s ‘paradise’ at Hilton Head Island, South Carolina where they traveled often. He loved his kids and grand kids. He liked to keep a scowl on his face just to scare the little ones!! He will be missed on the farm in the spring and fall. We would like to thank all of our family and friends who have sent emails, texts, phone calls and stopped by the house. Thank you to Rick Greenly who always made Jim smile with his messages!!! Thank you to everyone who brought meals and food during this sad time. Special thank you to our Angels Julia, Danielle and Ashley- Nurses truly are a gift from God. Thank you to Princess Margaret Hospital and St. Elizabeth Health Care team for your wonderful care and treatment of Jim. Last but not least, a Thank You to Bonnie from the Saddler/Atkinson families for all that you did for Jim – a Son, a Dad, a
Brother, a Grandpa and our ‘Uncle Jim’. You stood by and with Jim for over 36 years, through sickness and health; for richer or poorer; until death parted you. We love you Bonnie. Arrangements for a Celebration of Life are pending. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation; St. Elizabeth Health Care and the Bridge Hospice in Warkworth.
