Obituary
It is with sadness that we share that Lois Grace Parke died on February 17, 2022. She was the caring wife of the late Herbert (Bert) Parke and mother of Bob Parke. She is also a beloved sister, aunt, and friend to many in her community.
Lois Parke’s life was lived in accordance with the virtues of faith, hope and charity. Throughout her life she had a deep abiding faith that sustained and upheld her through the good and difficult times we inevitably go through. Her faith gave her a faith and church community which she was actively involved in throughout her life. Her faith community was centred around the Ryde Centennial Free Methodist church. Faith was both lived in her heart and acted on through her many works that provided hands-on support to the church and in its many activities during the years she lived in the community.
Hope was an enduring virtue that was founded on her Christian faith. Through work, caring for family in difficult times, and living with her changing health, she had a hope that “all things will work together for good.” She took tremendous comfort and company in this hope. She was confident there is more than this life and there is a heavenly home waiting at the end of life’s journey.
Charity or love was exemplified throughout her life. Lois was a Registered Nurse and took great pleasure in helping others throughout her formal career and into retirement. Nursing gave her knowledge that she used to care, support and advise others almost everyday of her life. Charity and love for many of us was also experienced in the many meals she prepared and shared. Many she encountered were family, friends, and strangers. Many of us are recipients of Lois Parke’s charity and love in the form of the bread, buns, and jams she made and generously shared throughout her life.
While we will miss her dearly, we give thanks to God for the faith, hope and charity that was lived in the life of Lois Parke.
