Obituary
Thomas John Chipesia (Amis) was born June 27, 1953 to John and Julie Chipesia. At a young age, you could always find Thomas on the trapline with his dad, or playing outdoors with his siblings. As Thomas grew, his love for the outdoors grew with him.
Thomas started working at a young age doing various jobs which included travel all over BC and even into Alberta. Thomas worked for a lot of different companies up until the 90’s when he suffered a bad car accident that nearly took his life. He was unable to do the jobs he loved due to the disability he was left with. However, Thomas found a couple odd jobs that he could still do which were plant study and environmental monitor.
Thomas was a very hard worker and always dedicated to his family. He would constantly be working with no breaks in between. When the job would be finished, his first stop would be his older sister’s house to catch up. Thomas was a kind and loving family man. Although he didn’t have children of his own, he treated his nieces and nephews like they were his own children.
Thomas owned no vehicle of his own but still managed to travel all over whenever he wanted to – just by using his thumb. People would joke around saying that Thomas could travel faster than people who owned a vehicle.
Thomas enjoyed his daily walks, and you would often see him and his life-long friend walking up and down the Alaska Highway. No matter the weather, Thomas had a schedule. Before his walks, he would always stop at the multiplex for a coffee and a game of solitaire. Better yet was if there was someone there to challenge him to a game of crib. He was an exceptional crib player and loved the game. Thomas always made time in his day to visit his niece Doreen to have something to eat and beat her in a game of crib.
If by chance you missed Thomas on one of his many journeys, you could find him sitting by the big window of his house watching people drive by. Thomas will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Till we meet again, Amis.
