HIEGEL, Peter – passed away peacefully at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute Hospital on February 15, 2022 in his 79th year. Best friend and beloved husband of the late Joan Eileen Hiegel (nee Perry). Dear father of three children, Peter Adam (Shannon) Hiegel, Christopher Perry Hiegel, and Suzanne Marie (Mark) Larmond. Proud and loving grandfather of Rachel Larmond. Predeceased by his parents Peter Sr. and Katharina Hiegel. Peter enjoyed many things in life including golfing, curling, and card playing. He retired after many years of service in the government with CRA. He was a very generous and friendly man and was also known for his strong and feisty character. Peter brought great passion to his life as a son, husband, father, grandfather and friend. Although Peter will be missed very much, he will be remembered with great fondness by those whose lives he has touched. Respecting his wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held in the Chapel at the H.L. Cudney Funeral Home, 241 West Main Street, Welland on Friday, February 25th at 11am. A family rite of committal will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Peter’s memory may be made to the University of Ottawa Heart Institute Foundation.
