Marie Eleanore (Hastie) Strong of Gorrie, affectionately known as Mawsy, passed away on Friday, February 18th, 2022 at Palmerston Hospital. Born in Howick Township on October 30, 1938, Mawsy was in her 84th year.
Predeceased by her beloved husband,Robert ‘Pawsy’ Strong in 2008
Dear mother of Jill Welsh and Pete Harrison of Harriston, and Kent ‘Ace’ and Lynda of Gorrie. Loving grandmother of Kyle, Sara (Tim), Leslie and Kelsey (Whip), and great-grandmother of Julia, Sophia, Luca, Tilly, Grace and Alayna. Also loved by her sister-in-law and dear friend, Ilene Hastie of Gorrie. Sister of Edith Cameron of Owen Sound, and Marg and Keith Finnigan of Dorchester, and sister-in-law of Mary Hastie of Elora, Joanne and Bob Allan of Kitchener, Alex and Gwen Strong of Wingham, and Helen Currie of Tweed.
Predeceased by her parents Ken &and Lillian (Earls) Hastie, and brothers Bob and Tom.
Mawsy was the light of any room she entered and spread the kindness of her heart to every person she touched. She loved her family and friends beyond any measure and would do anything to make her loved ones smile. Mawsy loved to share how blessed she was, and was one of the most positive and outgoing women we knew. She was a delight to be around and will be missed greatly by all of us. After 14 years to the day, Mawsy was finally reunited with her soul mate, Pawsy.
Visitation will be held at the Hardy-Lee Funeral Home, Harriston on Monday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Please register to attend by clicking RSVP (below), or by calling 519-338-2441.
A Celebration of Mawsy’s life will be held at funeral home on Tuesday, February 22nd at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Hawkins officiating. You do not have to register to attend the funeral. The service will be livestreamed and the link available here shortly.
Spring interment in Gorrie Cemetery.
