It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to Everett Bernard Vredegoor, late of Prince Albert, SK. Everett passed away peacefully on February 14th, 2022, at Mont St. Joseph Home with family by his side at the age of 88 years. Everett was a great husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Everett was born on April 27th, 1933, in Drempt, Holland. Everett and his family came to Canada in 1953 by ship. They settled in Cantuar, SK. He worked for the CP Railroad then he moved to Coaldale, AB. While in Coaldale, AB he worked with sugar beets in the summer and the bush in the winter, as well as several construction jobs. He married Anna Marie on April 27th, 1963, and together they purchased land in MacDowall, SK. They lived in a two-room house, then in 1968, they built a new house. In 1964, they built a chicken barn, where they had 1500 laying hens. In 1973, they built a dairy barn and milked about 45 cows. They also had 45 beef cows. Everett was an original chartered member of the MacDowall Lions Club. He did lots of volunteer work in the community. Everett loved to dance, play cards, and took every opportunity he had to go fishing. He also went on many trips. In 1998, they retired and moved to Prince Albert, SK where they bought a home. In 2020 they moved to the Columbian Centre Apartments in Prince Albert, SK.
Everett was survived by 4 of his children Danny (Connie) Vredegoor, Karen Letendre, Marilynne (Warren) Dugan, and Alan (Karen Hunter) Vredegoor; his grandchildren Mathew (Kelsey) Vredegoor, Jackie (Todd) Titley, Clint Vredegoor (Shelby Sinclair), Sheldon (Danielle) Letendre, Kirkland Letendre, Layton Letendre, Shauna (Devon) Hunter, Tyler (Becky Eyre) Dugan, Ashley (Justin) Lucyshyn, Jessica (Tyler Woolsey) Adams; his great-grandchildren Kaiden, Ryland, Levi, Jack, Ronan, Berkley, Ben, Connor, Ethan, Brielle, Brittany, and Emma; his sisters Henny Ratts, Ann (Conrad) Verbass, Marie Vredegoor, & Lena Verbass; his brothers Hank (Agi) Vredegoor, Gary (Jennie Van Spronsen) Vredegoor; his brothers-in-law Johnny (Marlene) Hendriks, Francis Hendriks, & Bob Kelly; his sisters-in-law Nellie Hendriks, Reyneldis Hendriks, Lorraine Hendriks, Dora Vredegoor and their families.
Everett was predeceased by his parents Anton and Grada Vredegoor; his daughter Marlene Vredegoor; his in-laws Herman and Annie Hendriks; his twin brother Martin Vredegoor; his brothers Father Sylvester Vredegoor, Ben Vredegoor, & Mike Vredegoor; his sisters Diane Berns, & Sister Grada Vredegoor; his brothers-in-law Ted Berns, Tony Ratts, Ted Hendriks, Edmund Hendriks, & Bernard Hendriks; his sisters-in-law Mary Vredegoor, & Cornelia Kelly Rosie Hendriks.
A visitation will be held at MacKenzie Chapel on Thursday, February 17th, 2022, at 7 pm. A funeral service will be held at St Joseph R.C. Church on Friday, February 18th, 2022, at 1 pm, with an interment to follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Prince Albert, SK. In lieu of other tributes, the family asks that donations be made in Everett’s name to either MacDowall & District Rec Foundation, Box 122, MacDowall, SK, S0K 2S0 or Alzheimer’s Society of Saskatchewan, #301 – 2550 12th Ave, Regina, SK, S4P 3X1.
