Obituary
On Feb.13th, 2022 Brian Bielik of Alpine, passed away at 69 years. He is survived by his wife Winona and 4 children: Roselyn and David Jennison (Peter), Jocelyn and Scott Beehler (Isabelle, Elizabeth, Hudson), Gwendalyn and Ryan Suffron (Lexie, Burkley), Kristalyn and Tim Friesen (Baylor, Blakely, Emmy), as well as many nieces and nephews, his mother Mary Bielik, his brother Danny (Brenda) Bielik, and his sister Debbie (Richard) Stechyshyn. He was predeceased by his father, Peter Bielik.
Brian was born on Nov. 3rd, 1952, in Toronto. The family moved to the Alpine area. The family worked hard to build their pioneer home and establish themselves through logging and farming. By the age of about 20, Brian owned land and started farming. He met and married Winona Lumax in 1976. They raised 4 daughters on the farm. He loved taking them on adventures. He
diversified into livestock: first horses, then cattle. He found that he loved the animals and nicknamed them all. In 2017, he started downsizing. He was happy to be semi-retired. That was a good fit for him. He would say he was “still in the game,” but had time to have a little fun, too. For hobbies, he loved fishing, taking a drive around the block, visiting with neighbors on the
back roads, shooting beavers, and socializing with almost anyone. In his early married years, he volunteered with the Kinsmen Club and made many lasting relationships. He also volunteered on the Benito Recreation board and sat on the board of directors for Madge Lake Bible Camp. He cherished his time with grandkids, taking them on their own adventures, sneaking them treats, and having a “funzy” with them, as he would call it.
Brian grew up in a strong Christian home. He attended the Russian Ukrainian Evangelical Church in Benito until he was a young adult. The Valley Evangelical Covenant Church became his home church. His faith was always there, but he did struggle for many years. In the last 7 years, his faith changed his life. He embraced all that God had for him. Every morning he
thanked God for those blessings. Had God granted him more time, he was in the process of stepping into church leadership. He didn’t judge others, because he knew his own short-comings. He wanted all his friends and family to come to know God and wasn’t afraid to have meaningful conversations about his faith with them. He will be remembered for his firm handshakes, the toothpick in his mouth, the funny story that was always brewing, his contagious, spontaneous laughter, the candy man (at church), and his
non-filtered, but loving nicknames for others. He walked to the beat of his own drum; he was his own authentic self. He would say…“There’s no need to reinvent the Magna Carta.” On that note:
Dad, you will be missed; but we have peace as we know where you are;
celebrating and waiting for the day we will all be together again. We will carry on with the joy and contentment that you instilled in us. We are so proud of you. (Your loving family.)
In keeping with Brian’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a service will take place at a later date.
