Obituary of Faye Ellen Height
Faye Ellen Height, age 74 of Paradise, NS passed away quietly on Saturday, February 12, 2022, at Annapolis Community Health Centre. Faye was born at the original Soldiers Memorial Hospital in Middleton to Owen and Annie Bent, 2nd of six children on August 4, 1947. The Bent’s lived in Wolfville in Faye’s early years then the remainder in the Beaconsfield and Bridgetown areas as the family grew. Faye graduated from the Business program at BRHS then moved to Halifax where she started her family of 3 daughters. They moved back to the valley in 1977, and Faye supported her daughters as a single parent by working for a period with Community Services in Annapolis before going back to school to take Computer Programming at NSLSI in Lawrencetown. Faye married James Height in 1982 and spent the last 39 years working closely with James doing the bookkeeping and building their business as well as raising a large, blended family of eight. She taught some evening courses at the local community college as well as led several projects for 4H while the kids were young. In her spare time Faye was well known for her baking, cooking, and crafting. She had many self-taught skills that included sewing – from her own clothes and uniforms for school activities while in high school, formal dresses and accessories, baby accessories and continued to a successful line of handbags and wallets more recently. Faye created many prize-winning cross stitch and also dabbled in refinishing furniture, photography, archery and collecting baseball cards. Faye was well known for her intuitive cooking and baking skills and was often requested to bring the desserts to potlucks held by friends and family. She enjoyed a good Blue Jays baseball game and taught her daughters many of her special skills. Faye spent many days with family and friends at her family cottage in Hampton which was her favorite place to relax for many years.
Faye is survived by her loving husband of 39 years James Height, their six children, Rick (Jane) Height, Gillian Phinney, Lori Height (Mike Dunn), Angela (Ted) Clark, Shannon Helm and Shari Height (Rob Joyce) as well as 16 grandchildren (Taylor, Benton, Daniel, Jeremy, Alyssa, Ryan, Alex, Tyler, Sarah, Tristan, Nicholas, Jordan, Micah, Kelsey, Samantha, DJ and 9 great grandchildren (Liam, Lilly, Rylan, Alexia, Aria, Draedon, Carter, Kelly, Eala). Faye is also survived by her 4 sisters Beth (Art) Knowlton, Nancy McGrath (Andrew Gilmour), Loretta (Jim) Inglis, and Lindsay (Hugh) Wood, 2 brothers Barry (Wendy) Bent and David Bent and many nieces and nephews and extended family. Faye is predeceased by her parents Owen and Annie Bent and in infancy granddaughter Kyra and great grandson Daniel.
Funeral services and/or gatherings to be arranged for a later date, cremation has taken place. The family would like to express our sincere thanks for all the help given over the past few years to help mom continue living at home from many special family members but also including Debbie Dexter, VON and Continuing Care. We really appreciate the care mom has had the past two months at Annapolis Community Health Centre who welcomed us and made this transition a more positive time for mom and our family.
