Obituary of Ron Dekteroff
Ronald Denise Dekteroff passed away at Riverside Health Complex, Turtleford, Saskatchewan, February 5, 2022 at the age of 83 years.
Ron was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Many people were gifted with the opportunity to know, to love, and to be loved by this kind and generous man. He was truly one of a kind.
Ron’s passion for life and learning was insatiable from an early age, always finding a need and creating an opportunity around it. This true entrepreneurial spirit, combined with an iron will, allowed him to create opportunities for himself that were courageous and extraordinary. He always strived to make dreams a reality, “git’er done” is what he said, and that is just what he did. He never ever gave up.
Ron’s passion and lifelong efforts as a developer can be witnessed, at the beautiful Indian Point, Turtle Lake, Saskatchewan. He created an incredible development for many people to continue to enjoy. He even became a pilot so he could squeeze more out of the day. To fly himself to Turtle Lake, while juggling a family and business in Alberta, was all in a day’s work sometimes. He took the same tenacity to Mexico, and left his beautiful mark on Puerto Vallarta, creating amazing spaces. We will continue to enjoy the fruits of his labor in our lifetime and beyond, the memory of Ron ever present. He has positively and indelibly touched the lives of so, so many people. Many have sat at his table, entertaining in his home is what Ron loved to do. He was a fine cook, fine storyteller, fine company, and fine host.
Ron was diagnosed with cancer in the spring of 2021. We were blessed to have had him in his Indian Point home for six months. His tenacious spirit kept him fighting for many more months than diagnosed. In this time, received many visitors and friends. He was making deals right to the end! Ron (actually) enjoyed Saskatchewan winter for the first time in many years. This very snowy winter, he learned to love the “white rain”!
Ron had a deep personal relationship with God. In knowing him, one knew his very nature was love. He was, above all, a gentle and kind man who deeply loved his family and friends and was genuinely interested in the well being of others. We were all blessed to have had him. He will be profoundly missed. Rest in peace Dad.
Ron is predeceased by: his wife, Ellenor Dekteroff; parents, Moses and Tillie Dekteroff; one sister, Eileen Johnson.
