Shirley’s Obituary
The family of Shirley Anne Meister, of Greenwood, is immeasurably saddened to announce her sudden passing on February 10, 2022 at the age of 78. Born September 7, 1943 in Middleton, she was the daughter of the late Frances (Rawle) and Kenneth Keddy. Shirley will be remembered above all for her love of her family and friends, and all the things she enjoyed sharing with them. Whether it was her frequent and infectious laughter, a plate of cucumber sandwiches, the latest funny TV commercial, or a game of Yahtzee or Scrabble, she believed that everything was better with company. She leaves behind an example of generosity, strength, and unwavering spirit through any circumstance.
Shirley is survived by her beloved husband of 59 years, Gene; her daughters, Teresa (Rick) Glover and Wanda (Gord) Whitlock; her brothers, Robert (Susan), Ashley, and Vaughn (Linda) Keddy; and the many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who knew her so fondly as Ammie or Aunt Shirley. Everyone who knew her also knew her endless capacity for love and kindness, and it cannot be said how dearly she will be missed by all. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Bessie, Susan, and Caroline; her brother, Stephen.
The family would like to thank Suzanne Keddy and Ruth Meister, the VON, and all of the various medical and support workers who offered Shirley such gracious and attentive care over the years. True to her giving nature, she requested that her body be donated to Medical Science (those who knew her will recall her chuckle when she would add, “then they should have enough material for a new textbook”). A celebration of Shirley’s life will be planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to VON Annapolis Valley, the Valley Regional Hospital Foundation, or a charity of your choice.
