Arthur Duane Harris
1925-2022
Harris, Arthur Duane (1925 -2022)
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Art Harris of
Harvey Station, NB on February 10, 2022 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers
Hospital. Art was born on September 6, 1925, a son of the late Bud
(Chester) and Myrtle (DeWitt) Harris and he grew up in Rooth, NB on
the family farm.
Later on he met the love of his life Alice (Toner) and they married in
1947 and lived in Harvey. Art worked in the woods and then with the
CPR before retiring in 1977. Art was full of life and enjoyed meeting
people. He loved working at the door at many functions which included
dances, benefits and the Harvey Lions Club Bingo. Art was a life
member of the Harvey Lions Club. He enjoyed visiting other clubs and
trading and collecting pins.
Art was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #55. He
enjoyed being on the go and in anything moving, he was there. Tim
Hortons was a must, an ice-cap made with chocolate milk.
Art’s greatest love was spending time with his family, Sunday
dinner and visits or going for a hunt at Alex’s camp. Art was
always up for a party and dance at the local pub where you would find
him every Saturday night, dancing up a storm with all the ladies. The
band always played his favourite song “Bottle of Wine” at
least once or twice.
Art leaves to mourn his passing, his children Burton (Carol) Toner,
Margaret Nason, Alex (Dorothy) Harris, Sylvia Morehouse and Dwane
(Rhonda) Harris; his daughter-in-law Debbie Harris; fifteen
grandchildren; thirty-one great grandchildren; eleven great great
grandchildren; his brothers Keith, Donnie (Renna), Travis (Betty) and
Alden (Mary); his sisters Marie, Hilda and Edith; several nieces and
nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Alice; a
son Billy; sons-in-law Francis Nason and Stephen Morehouse; a
daughter-in-law, Margaret Toner; brothers Foster, Gordon, Gill,
Howard, Elmer, Erwin and Wallace; and sisters Delia and Eloise.
Visiting hours will be held at Harvey Lions Club, 4722 Route 640,
Harvey, York Co., NB on Sunday, February 13, 2022 from 2 to 4 and 6 to
8 pm. Due to government COVID regulations, masks, proof of double
vaccination and government issued ID are required. A private funeral
service will be held later with Rev. Kay Clowater officiating.
Interment will be held at a later date at Acton Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Art’s grandsons Terry Harris, Doug Harris,
Wayne Harris, Josh Morehouse, Andrew Wood and Tim Mott.
For those wishing to make a donation in memory of Art, the family has
suggested the Acton Cemetery, Harvey Lions Club Christmas Mommies or a
charity of the donor’s choice.
Art’s family would like to say thank you to the staff DECH 3SW
for the excellent care and kindness shown to Art. Thank you to Dr.
Ginn. You are truly special.
