Obituary of Joyce May Chisholm
Chisholm, Joyce (nee Bartley)
September 01, 1941 – February 06, 2022
Peacefully, our beloved Joyce took her last breath on February 6, 2022.
Joyce was born in the district of Water Lane, Clarendon, Jamaica, West Indies. She is survived by siblings Olive, Adolph, Daphney, Hyacinth, Roy, Yvonne, Elaine, Llorna, Darrel, Pat, Dannie, Donna and Carol. She is predeceased by her parents Estella Reid and Henry Bartley.
Joyce will be deeply missed by her devoted husband Prendegrast; children Joy, Claston (Curlene), Dennis, Fitzroy (Angela); grandchildren Jovaun, Jordan, Jade, Sharla (Denzel) and great grandchildren Theo, Serena and Elijah; many nieces & nephews, cousins, friends.
Joyce emigrated to Canada in 1970 seeking opportunity. She assisted family and friends alike, who were seeking the same. Joyce had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. She loved reading books about Christianity, health, nutrition and dress-making. She attended George Brown College where she honed her dressmaking skills. She was a highly skilled seamstress. She moonlighted as a personal support worker.
Joyce was a people magnate. She was warm, kind, funny and loved her family and friends dearly. She was a blessing to us for 80 years and she’s left us a lifetime of treasured memories.
A heartfelt thank you to all the dedicated staff in Mom’s circle of care (Peel Region Health) for your kindness, care and support.
To our family and friends, we are truly grateful for the many expressions of love during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Alzheimer Society Peel would be greatly appreciated. alzheimer.ca/peel/en/take-action/donate
