He was born on September 26, 1935 in Kapetanovo Polje, Yugoslavia (now Croatia) and emigrated to Canada in 1951 with his parents and brothers. His grandmother Magdalena Arndt followed. The family worked and sharecropped on farms in the Rodney area before moving to Leamington. He and Susie met in Leamington over a love of dancing at the Hi Y. They married on February 23, 1957. In the early years they both worked at Heinz while their family grew. When their family was complete, they moved to a farm in on the 2nd, concession in the Hillman Marsh area where they happily became tomato farmers. In the early 70’s they moved again, this time to a farm on the 3rd concession in Kingsville where they continued tomato farming. He and his brothers had established the Sunburst Canning Factory in 1965 and the tomatoes were processed there. He and his brothers also built the apartment building on Division Street North in Kingsville, where dad lived for a couple of years after Susie passed away.
As mentioned earlier he and Susie loved to dance and spent many happy Saturday nights at the Rhine Danube Club, spinning around the dance floor. They were perfect partners .
Cremation has taken place. Due to Covid there will be no funeral service at this time. The family will gather at a later date to inter the ashes at Leamington Memorial Gardens.
If desired, the family would appreciate donations to Erie Shores Hospice (Hospice Erie Shores Campus), the MCC meat Canners or a charity of your choice.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Frank
