Obituary
Catherine Ann Sullivan (MacInnis) passed on February 2, 2022, with family by her side, and she is now at peace.
Kay grew up in rural Nova Scotia with her parents, Roddy and Matilda and her four younger siblings (Donnie, Norman, Rhoda and Elaine). She moved to Ontario on her own; it was here she met and married Leo (d.2000). Married for 48 years, they had some exciting times and great parties together. Dad was a jokester, and mom missed him daily after he passed. Together, they created fond memories, great stories and three children: Rod (Diane), Pam, and Trish (Paul).
The family continued to grow over the years to include six grandchildren: Corey (Matthew), Josh (Brittany), Braden (Audrey), Gen (Victor), Griffin and Riley; and seven great-grandchildren: Joel, Mila, Colton, Brooklyn, Zachary, Connor, and Maya.
Mom worked at Eaton’s in Hamilton up until retirement; this was a perfect place for her to be – she loved to shop. She was often seen walking up East 18th with the big white Eaton’s bags in her hands. Her love of shopping continued after moving north, and she was happy to point out the many treasures she found.
Mom and Dad moved to Sauble Beach in retirement. Mom loved her time at the beach and enjoyed each stunning sunset. Sauble is where she met her dearest friend, Betty.
Mom eventually moved to Southampton, where she became the ‘Mayor’ of her building. Here she found kind and caring people who helped her remain independent and in her own home. Our family is forever grateful to Linda and Karen for their kindness and support over the years.
We were blessed by the love Mom showed us all and will miss her dearly. We take our comfort in knowing she is at peace and is now with Dad and her beloved dogs Brutus and Niesha.
At Mom’s request, there is no visitation, she didn’t want any fuss. A mass and private family burial will take place in the spring – just as she requested.
In appreciation of the excellent, kind, and compassionate care Mom received in the hospital, we kindly ask that in lieu of flowers, donations in Mom’s memory be made to the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation for the CT Scanner.
Always in our thoughts and forever in our hearts.
An-còmhnaidh nar smuaintean, gu bràth nar cridheachan.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Catherine Sullivan April 23 1934 – February 2 2022 Age 87..
