Obituary
It is with heavy hearts the family of Linda Jane (Jordan) Cookson, loving wife of Robert Cookson, announces her peaceful passing which occurred on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Sydney on October 31, 1950, and grew up in Sydney River, NS; she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Dorothy (James) Jordan.
Linda worked for the Nova Scotia Archives for 30 years, retiring in 2013. Although she had lived in Halifax since 1970, her heart was always in Cape Breton. One of her greatest joys was spending time at her happy place, the bungalow in Irish Vale with the million dollar view.
In addition to her husband of 51 years, she is survived by her devoted daughters Jodi Lewis (Scott) and Angela Cookson, both of Quispamsis, NB; cherished grandchildren Jordan, Makenna and Daniel Lewis; beloved sister, Diane Jeans, of Sydney, NS; special sisters-in-law Sharon Cookson and Becky Cookson; fur baby, Sophie; several cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the dedicated nurses and staff of the Palliative Care Unit and 4C North at the SJRH. A special thank you to Dr. Stephanie Carpentier for her kindness and care.
Arrangements are under the care of Fundy Funeral Home, Saint John (646-2424). There will be a private family service at a later date. Remembrances in memory of Linda may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
