Edward John Stewart Ed 1937 –

We are very sad to announce the passing of Edward John Stewart (Ed) on the morning of Sunday January 23, 2022. With family by his side, Ed passed away peacefully at Royal Inland Hospital.
Ed is survived by many of his own family members as well as those of his wife. He will be especially missed by his wife of 55 years, Angela Stewart, his daughters, Marsha Stewart (Arjun), Sonia Stewart and Ann Marie Deacon (Al), his sister, Elizabeth Harvey and his brother, James Stewart (Marlyn). He is predeceased by his parents, Mamie and Melville Stewart, his nephew, Timothy Stewart and his brother-in-law, Donald Harvey.
Ed was born in Simcoe County, Ontario and was raised on the family farm. Work took Ed to Labrador City. It was there that he met Angela, the love of his life and he knew the moment he saw her that she was the one for him. They married in St. John’s Newfoundland in January 1967.
Working for the CNR for close to 30 years, Ed and Angela moved across the country for various opportunities, growing their family as they went. In 1975, Ed moved his family to Kamloops, where he finished his career and enjoyed his retirement.
Proud, loyal and hardworking, Ed was a dedicated employee of the CNR and no less devoted to his family. Ed loved spending time with his family, especially enjoying activities such as skating, skiing and camping. Each summer, Ed packed up the family for a camping adventure that took them all over Canada and the USA; these were some of his most cherished memories.
Ed loved soup, the Blazers, local lakes and fishing, card games, camping, traveling, roses, and a cold beer. Most of all, Ed was proud of his daughters and their accomplishments and expressed his love for Angela until his last day.
The family is grateful for all the Royal Inland Hospital doctors, nurses and staff who cared for their husband and father over many years. During his last hospital stay, Ed was compassionately cared for by so many working on 7th North.
Cremation was entrusted to Drake’s Cremation and Funeral Services. A private family celebration of life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation in Ed’s name to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada. www.heartandstroke.ca/
