Mrs. Elsie Schmidek of Red Deer, Alberta was peacefully called home to be with her loving Saviour at Innisfail Long Term Care on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at the age of 93 years.
Elsie was predeceased by her husband Harold and son Joey.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Denica (Rodney) Vikse; grandchildren, Melissa (Keegan) Witwer, Bradley Vikse (Lisa Scherrens), Joshua Vikse, Kassandra Toerper, Darci-Marie Schmidek and Connor Daren; great grandchildren, Charlotte, Aurelia, Zachary and Eliana Witwer. She will also be missed by her brothers, Brian (Cathy) Sanders and Clifford Sanders; sisters-in-law, Verna Sanders, Lydia Schmidek and Marlene Schmidek; and brother-in-law, Marvin (Doreen) Schmidek.
Elsie was born in Renton, Washington on February 9, 1928. The family later moved to the Innisfail area. She was a nurse at the Michener Centre before staying home to raise her family. She later worked at the City of Red Deer in the census department. She loved sewing, crafting, gardening and the outdoors. In retirement, many years were spent travelling south with friends and relatives escaping our winters. Most importantly, she had a commitment to church and her faith in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Saviour.
Thank you to all of the staff at Innisfail Long Term Care for amazing care and support. A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to “Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church Renovation Fund”,
