Eldon Johnson (John) Eagles
1951-2022
We the family of John Eagles regretfully announce his passing
at the Kenneth E. Spencer Memorial Home on January 31, 2022.
Born in Moncton he was the son of Harry and Elaine (Anderson )
Eagles. John had and recovered from Polio, wearing leg
braces as a young lad before he entered school and struggled in all
subjects yet went to NBCC and became a Chef. He worked for
Moncton Supply Depot #5 base and later went to the Renous Prison as a
chef. In 1972 John married the love of his life, Cindy
(Fletcher) Eagles and they were together for 46 years. Cindy
passed in 2016 and John’s world began it
deteriation. Alone, he remodeled their home in Fredericton,
fished, golfed, drove many miles down country roads, worked Kettles
for the Salvation Army, and talked and talked when he met friends and
strangers. John and Cindy lived in the Miramichi for many
years before moving to Fredericton.
John is survived by his brother Stephen (Gloria) Eagles,
sisters Martha (Brian) Steeves, Mary (late Larry) Allen.
Mother in law Sadie (late Gordon) Fletcher, sisters in law Sharon
(Clyde) Hicks, Linda (late Rob) McCready and Heather (Fletcher) and
many nieces and nephews. John and Cindy had no children but
always had a home filled with their fur children – cats,
Fawcett, Rocky and Doodle for the last 17 years and many
others.
John was predeceased by his parents, wife Cindy, brother
David Eagles, sister in law Carol Eagles, brother in law Rob McCready
and father in law Gordon Fletcher. John has had many health
issues over his life, Polio, childhood illnesses, Gilliam Barre,
Dementia and lastly a broken hip and surgery. John entered
the Chalmers Hospital in January of 2020 and when Covid struck he was
moved to the Oromocto Hospital where he resided until March of 2021
then moved to Spencer’s Nursing Home. So
to Dr. Christie in Fredericton and all other Doctors and Nurses at the
Chalmers, Oromocto Hospital and Spencer’s Thank You so very
much for all your dedication and care.
In honoring John’s request there will be no
visitation or service. Cremation will take place at
Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine
Road, Riverview (869-2007). Online condolences may be
