William Barkley Jr November 8 1943 January 30 2022

William Barkley, Jr. – age 78 of Knoxville passed away Sunday, January 30, 2022. Member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. William retired from BellSouth after many years of service. He was also a US Army Veteran who served in Vietnam and a member of Telephone Pioneers. He loved gardening and watching westerns. William dearly loved his family.
Preceded in death by parents, William and Lucille Barkley; and brother, Mike Barkley.
Survived by wife of 55 years, Betty Barkley; precious daughter, Susan Carol Barkley; sister, Marlene McClure; sister-in-law, Jane Barkley; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jewell and Leon Bell; nieces and nephews, Patty Hamilton, Michelle Breeden, Mark Miller, Rodney Bell, Kim Bell, and Brad Bell; special friend, Bill King.
The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 PM Friday, February 4, 2022, at Bridges Funeral Home followed by the funeral service at 7:00 PM with Rev. Robert Haskins and Rev. Darrin Kitts officiating. Family and friends will meet 10:45 AM on Saturday at Trentville Cemetery for an 11:00 AM interment. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, 8807 Pleasant Hill Rd, Knoxville, TN 37924 or American Cancer Society, 871 Weisgarber Road, Knoxville, TN 37909.
