ALBERT (AL) STEPHEN
March 27, 1945 – January 25, 2022
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Al after a long hard-fought battle with cancer.
He is survived by his wife and soulmate Diane; children Shaun (Kim), Curt (Kari), Jennifer (Dean); grandchildren Emily, Alyssa, Hannah, Grayson and Chase, the lights of his life; sister Marlene Gottfried, nephew David Gottfried (Jenny); great-nephew Lochlan Gottfried and many cousins. Al was predeceased by his parents Emil and Irene Stephen; brother-in-law Bob Gottfried; niece Sherry Gottfried and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Al lived a full life. He was an avid sports enthusiast, golfer, curler, reader, gardener, traveler, and organizer.
Throughout his life, career in transportation and love of sports, both playing and coaching, he made many lifelong friendships. Wherever Al was he always knew someone and there was no sports statistic that he could not quote.
Al loved to be the organizer, whether it be a casino bus trip, curling league or running the ROMEO golf group. He loved to travel, in the early years with his family, and then later to Puerto Vallarta being his destination of choice.
Many thanks to St. Boniface Palliative Care for their kindness in Al’s final days.
Cremation has taken place and there is no formal service.
If desired, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
Condolences may be sent to www.wojciksfuneralchapel.com
