Jan Stetic November 6 1942January 29 2022

Obituary
Jan Stetic (nee McCowan) passed away peacefully on Jan 29, 2022.
Mother, Wife, Friend, Teacher – Jan will be fondly remembered by many. Wife of Nenad Stetic, Mother of John (Melanie Melnyk) and Teena, Grandmother of Will and Katya, Sister-in-law of Mila and Lazar Jokic, Sister of Stewart McCowan. Aunt, to David and Julie, Petar and Alex, Great Aunt, and Cousin.
Born Martha Janet McCowan in Sudbury, Ontario, in 1942 to Helen and Dugald McCowan, Jan grew up in Maple, Ontario. After graduating from Waterloo Lutheran (now Wilfrid Laurier) University, Jan started a rewarding 30-year career in education. Teaching Physical Education and English, Jan was not just a teacher – she was a coach, mentor, friend, and shoulder to lean on for her students and fellow teachers.
Jan enjoyed many summers at the cottage on Gloucester Pool and many winters on the slopes at Mansfield Ski Club, always hosting great get-togethers and welcoming to all. Her generosity, spirit and deep care for her family and friends inspired trusted and lasting relationships.
A celebration of Jan’s life will be held in the spring for everyone to gather and share stories, fond memories and laughter. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jan to Matthews House Hospice or Pathways to Education would be appreciated.
