Obituary
Sackmann, Allen H.
(March 7, 1938 – January 25, 2022)
It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the death of Allen on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at the Ottawa General Hospital. Allen was the touchstone for his family, his dear friends, his church, and his former colleagues. He had deep roots in the Trinity and Bridlewood churches in Ottawa, and Knox Presbyterian Church in Westport. His wisdom, unwavering strength, loyalty, humour and devotion to his family will be sorely missed.
Allen is mourned by his wife and best friend, Penelope Williams, his children Allen (Cindy), Loranne, Keith, Matthew (Erinn), Sam (Erin); his grandchildren, Patrick (Jennifer), Jacob, Shannon, Cassidy, Joshua (Hillary), Kristopher, Kieran, Ruby, Abe, and Louis, as well as a growing number of great grandchildren; his brother Lawrence (Annette), brother-in-law Seaton Findlay (Sue), and sister-in-law Joan Findlay, and many nieces and nephews on both the Sackmann and Findlay sides.
Deep gratitude to the medical staff at the Ottawa General Hospital for their care and compassion.
A celebration of Allen’s life will be held at a later date. Those wishing to do so, may consider making a donation to Helping Cope Through Hope in Allen’s memory. It is a charitable organization that was close to Allen’s heart.
