Memorial Donation
It is with sadness that we announce, after a lengthy illness, the peaceful passing of Teddy (Ted) Gerald Stremel on January 25, 2022 at the Southeast Integrated Care Centre in Moosomin, SK.
Dad was born on February 14, 1935 in Spalding, SK. He lived in Rivers, MB for a time working as a short haul truck driver. He then married and moved to Elkhorn, MB where he spent his life raising his family, working as a farmer, spending 40 years as a volunteer Fire Fighter and working at and devoting his talents to the Manitoba Antique Automobile Museum. Dad was a hard worker, a jokester, a family man and a passionately talented musician. He loved farming, collecting toy farm implements, organizing and attending music jams and working on antique cars and farm implements. His final days were spent reminiscing with family about his wonderful life and the people he loved, and we take great comfort in knowing that Dad is at peace.
Ted was predeceased by his loving wife Marilyn and son Terry. He is survived by his children Derek (Pam), Shelley and Elaina; grandchildren Danielle, Mitchell and Emily; and great-grandchildren Ceile and Thorsten. He also leaves to mourn, his sister Mary, countless nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who all adored and will fondly remember Ted, and his dear friends at the Sunrise Villa in Maryfield where he lived in his final years.
We wish to thank the exceptional nursing staff in the Moosomin, Wawota and Redvers hospitals. We also wish to thank the staff at the Villa who cared for Dad over the years – he loved you all.
A Celebration of Life will take place in the summer when capacity limits allow, with the details to be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a donation in Ted’s memory to the Wallace District Fire Department.

We are sincerely sorry to hear of Uncle Ted’s passing.

Uncle Ted and I have kept in some contact over the years, but that time was quite spread out of course. Mom always talked of her little brother in a special way. Lee Anne’s mother helped Uncle Ted find the locations in and around Expanse for the placement of a couple of head stones.

I remember back many years one day in Regina when Uncle Ted showed up in front of our house with a cabover truck and I got to sit in side while he visited my mother. I would have been 5 or less I imagine. Or the times as a family we drove from Regina to to Grampa Ed Stremel’s farm and played with Terry around the stone piles looking for snakes or anything else we could find. Toughs trips weren’t plentiful, usually once a year.

May fond memories remain locked in your minds to help you through this time of sadness.

    David and Lee Anne Foreman
