We announce with heavy hearts the passing of Doris (nee La Chapple) (Gallerno) Scharmin in her 92nd year.
She was born n Windsor January 6, 1931 and passed at Riverview Gardens under the care of very special caregivers on December 12, 2022.
She is survived by her husband Gilbert Scharmin, married 27 years together. Predeceased by her 1st husband of 41 years, Charles Gallerno, who are now reunited.
She is also survived by her sons:
Lonnie (Susan) Gallerno and their children Ryan (Ashley) Gallerno & great grandson Colton and Cassie (Jessie) Kraayenbrink.
Roderick (Carolyn) Gallerno and their children Heather (Chris) Meloche and great grandchildren Wyatt and Harmony, Shannon (Adam) Rankin and great grandchildren Bria and Audrey.
Dale (Cindy) Gallerno and their children Racheal (Kevin) Van Horne and great grandchildren Kellan and Morgan, Christopher (Nicole) Gallerno and their children Trisha, Haley, Darlene and Tyler, Earl (Tammy) Taylor and their child Caitlyn Tanassa Taylor and her children Kaleb, Jaden and Logan.
Predeceased by her son Ron, survived by Ron’s wife Donna Scharmin and their children Gary and Kelly.
Doris grew up in Foster Care with her sisters Anna Mae, Cecile and Judy.
She fished beside her husband Charles on the St. Clair River where she lived for over 40 years. She loved to sew, knit and bake and took care of her boys, grandkids and in-laws.
In later years with Gilbert she camped and travelled to Belgium, Lourdes in France and Spain. They also travelled to Calgary to visit their son and family.
She has many nieces and nephews who all knew her as Aunt Doris, a very special person.
Family and friends will be received at the Eric F. Nicholls Funeral Home, 639 Elgin Street, Wallaceburg on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2022 at 11 a.m. from the Chapel of the Funeral Home.
As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society may be left at the funeral home.
