Obituary
It is with very heavy hearts that we announce the sudden but peaceful passing of Ronald Tyssen on December 6, 2022 at Royal Inland Hospital, Kamloops, B.C., surrounded by family. Ron was born in Nanaimo BC on October 18, 1947 to Robert (Slim) and Marjorie (Madge) Tyssen, the second oldest of five. He lived in Coombs, then Clinton and when he was 8 the family moved to Salmon Arm, BC.
Ron is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Carol and daughter Kim (Mike) Dunn of Calgary and son Brad of Edmonton. The love of his life were his grandchildren, Koen Tyssen, Trinity Dunn, Jacob Dunn, and Avery Tyssen. He is also survived by his brother Larry of Kamloops, brother Doug (Gail) of Salmon Arm, and sister Debbie of Salmon Arm as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Slim and Madge and younger sister Colleen.
Ron worked in the tire industry for nearly 40 years, retiring in 2010 when he was diagnosed with kidney disease. He started working at Valley Tire, then Kal Tire, Fountain Tire and lastly Midtown Auto. During this time he gained many valuable customers and made many good friends. He enjoyed playing slow pitch and curling. He loved to fish even if he didn’t catch anything. He and Carol spent many weekends camping and fishing at Adams Lake with good friends. We enjoyed traveling to visit friends and family including Belize, Phoenix, California, Las Vegas (his favorite), the Yukon and the Maritimes. Donations in Ron’s memory may be made to the Kidney Foundation or Shuswap Lake General Hospital.
You’ve just walked on ahead of me
And I’ve got to understand
You’ve got to release the ones you love
And let go of their hand.
I try to cope the best I can
But I’m missing you so much
If I could only see you
And once more feel your touch.
Yes, you’ve just walked on ahead of me
Don’t worry I’ll be fine
But now and then I swear I feel
Your hand slip into mine.
