It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear father Harry who died peacefully on Sunday, November 27, 2022, at the Arbutus Care Home in Vancouver. He was 99 years old.
Harry was born on November 12, 1923, in West Vancouver BC. The family then lived in North Van, Vancouver, North Burnaby (where he attended high school) and Lake Cowichan on Vancouver Island (where he finished high school). At the age of 19 he joined the Royal Canadian Navy during WWII, stationed in Esquimalt and then Halifax. He served as a sick bay attendant aboard the Corvette HMCS Morden patrolling the North Atlantic. After the war Harry attended UBC, graduating with a degree in Forestry in 1951. Harry, with his wife and their first son, then lived in a small town north of Quesnel BC. After this brief period, he spent the rest of his life in Vancouver. Harry later taught Science and Physics at Lord Byng Secondary School in Vancouver for 25 years until his retirement in the 1980s.
Harry is survived by five sons Gregory, Laurence, Raymond, Philip, and Christopher along with their spouses, nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren, one sister-in-law and many nephews and nieces. He is predeceased by Stella, his loving wife of 73 years, two brothers, a sister and one grandchild.
