Sadly, Johan (age 89) passed away quietly at Southbridge Kemptville on 22 November 2022. Predeceased by his beloved wife Mary (Irene) who passed on the eve of their 58th wedding anniversary (d May 2018); and loving father of James (Jim) Sawatzky (w Donna Aubert); Dennis Sawatzky (w Sharon Blinn); Carol Sawatzky (w Rob Walsworth); and John (Jack) Sawatzky.
Cherished grandfather to two grandchildren Mathew Walsworth (Marina) and Robert (Tony) Walsworth (Amy Thornton); and Great-Grandfather to Angelina Mae, Felicity, Evelyn, Alexander (Xander), James and Xiomara Walsworth
Predeceased by his father, Erdman Sawatzky (d May 1976); his mother, Katrina (nee Krause) both of Niverville, Manitoba; and his sister Helen (d Mar 2021) from Victoria, BC.
Johan will be sadly missed by his brother Don Sawatzky (Susan Schwenker) and niece Misty Sawatzky from Addison, Texas.
Johan enjoyed his time in the Canadian Armed Forces as an Arms Technician, then worked with the Public Service as a Laser Specialist; and as a hobby, he built his own house. When he retired, he attended Kemptville College for Landscaping, and started his own business. Basically he was a “Jack of all trades” and could do anything.
The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to Dr. Luong and the Southbridge Kemptville (former Bayfield) team who have helped with Johan’s care over the last number of years.
A private celebration of life will take place at a later date.
